This documentation is from Cooledit’s website as of 2002/05/07:

To record a script:

- Open a file that is typical of the ones you will want to run the batch file on.
- Select Options/Scripts and Batch Processing.
- Type a name into the 'title' blank in the script window.
- Click on record. The Script window will go away. (Don't open/save a file during script recording if you want this script to work in a batch mode. Your file should have been opened before pressing the record part of the script.)
- Do whatever functions you want to automate.
- Go back to the script mode and press the "Stop" button.
- In the bottom of that window you can enter information about the script you just made.
- Click on the <<ADD<<

To batch run a script:

- Open the script window with no waveform open.
- Click on your script and then click on 'batch run'.
- Select the files you want to run the script on.
- Select the destination directory where you want the processed files to go.
- Select the format you want in which you want these files saved.

Here's how to batch-convert files with Cool Edit 2000 and Cool Edit Pro 1.X:

1) Copy the text between the asterisks below (*******) to a new text file and save it as BATCONV.SCP. This creates a null script that you can run on batches of files.

2) Launch Cool Edit.

3) Choose "Cool Scripts/Batch Process" from the Options menu.

4) Click on the "Open/New" button, and choose BATCONV.SCP.

5) Choose "Batch Conversion", and click on the "Batch Run" button.

6) Select the files you want to convert in the Source Files box.

7) Select the destination directory, output format, and output filename template.

8) Click on Begin Processing to start the conversion.

********
Collection: Batch Conversion
Title: Batch Conversion
Description: Null script for performing batch conversions
Mode: 2

Selected: none at 0 SR 44100
End:
********

Here's how to batch-convert files with Cool Edit Pro 2.0:

With Cool Edit Pro 2.0 we have made it very easy to convert several files at one time to different sample rates and formats. Here is a quick overview of how you can batch convert files in CEP2.0.

- First make sure you are in the Single Waveform Edit View.
- Next go to File > Batch File Convert...

Step 1 (Files): Here you need to click Add Files and add any of the files that you wish to batch convert. When you are done adding your files to this list you can then click the next tab which is Resample.

Step 2 (Resample): Here you can change the sample rate or type of all of these files that you have selected in step 1 if you want to. If you are simply doing a batch from one format to another you most likely will not need this step. If you do wish to change the sample type simply check the box that says "convert sample type" and then click the "change destination format" button to choose the new sample type for these files.

Step 3 (Format): Once in here you can drop down the output format box to choose the new format for your selected files. After you have selected the format you can then click the Format Properties button to choose the specific attributes for the format save.

Step 4 (Destination): After the format has been selected you can now click to the last step which is the destination tab. In here you can choose where you want the converted files to be saved. You can select any folder on your hard drive that you need these files to be stored into. The options (check boxes) also have many options that you may find useful including an option to delete the source files after they have been converted to new files.

Collection: Converting WAVs to VCE
Title: STConvert
Description:
Mode: 2

Selected: none at 0 scaled 0 SR 44100
cmd: Amplitude\Amplify
1: 0.5
2: 0.5
3: 0.5
4: 0.5
5: 1
6: 0
7: 0
8: 0
9: 1
10: 0
11: 0

Selected: none at 0 scaled 0 SR 44100
cmd: Convert
1: 8000
2: 1
3: 16
4: -1
5: 1
6: 1
7: 1
8: 0
9: 300
10: 1
11: 0.54
12: 16

Selected: none at 0 scaled 0 SR 8000
End:

When converting files from VCE/VOX to WAV, make sure you set the outputs in Open Raw PCM as….
