Hello,

I get an invalid file format error for the message scripts for NMS 4000. I am using Windows PCM, 8kHz, 16-bit, Mono wav files for the scripts (these files were recorded in the Voice Script Manager of Teleflow 2003). The log file is below. Please let me know if more info is needed.

Thank you,

Trace

Message Code: INTRO
Nov 30 16:27:31.15: Playing 'C:\TELEFLOW_ROOT\APPLICATIONS\TestApp\Vox\Eng\Scripts\INTRO.WAV'
Nov 30 16:27:31.15: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.15: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.15: attempt 2
Nov 30 16:27:31.16: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.16: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.16: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.16: attempt 3
Nov 30 16:27:31.18: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.18: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.18: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.18: attempt 4
Nov 30 16:27:31.19: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.19: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.19: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.19: attempt 5
Nov 30 16:27:31.21: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.21: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.21: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.21: attempt 6
Nov 30 16:27:31.22: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.22: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.22: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.22: attempt 7
Nov 30 16:27:31.24: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.24: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.24: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.24: attempt 8
Nov 30 16:27:31.26: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.26: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.26: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.26: attempt 9
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: ERROR: Failed to open file
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: (196614) VCEERR_WRONG_FILE_TYPE
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: ERROR: Failed to play file
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: (196609) VCEERR_NO_MESSAGE
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: FAILURE
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: ERROR: Missing next step
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: FATAL
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: Attempting to jump to Fatal Error Global Event label: 'APPLICATION_ERROR'
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: [107] Label
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: Label: APPLICATION_ERROR
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: [108] Run Flowchart
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: Flowchart: 'Exit'
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: Main==>Exit
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: [1] START
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: [13] DB Disconnect
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: [8] Global Event
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: Setting system variable '@FATAL' to 'EXIT_END'
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: [11] Global Event
Nov 30 16:27:31.27: Setting system variable '@HANGUP' to 'EXIT_END'

Hi,

I have deleted everything and uploaded a fresh copy of the application for testing. I get a different "encoding" error (see log below) but it still has to do with the wav file type. It is still a Windows PCM, 8kHz, 16-bit, Mono. I checked the file type with Cool edit and it does confirm the Windows PCM, 8kHz, 16-bit, Mono. I would like to keep using wav files instead of vce files.

Thank you,
Trace

Message Code: INTRO
Dec 01 14:38:02.89: Playing 'C:\TELEFLOW_ROOT\APPLICATIONS\TestApp\Vox\Eng\Scripts\INTRO.WAV'
Dec 01 14:38:02.89: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.89: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.89: attempt 2
Dec 01 14:38:02.91: open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.91: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.91: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.91: attempt 3
Dec 01 14:38:02.93: open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.93: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.93: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.93: attempt 4
Dec 01 14:38:02.94: open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.94: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.94: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.94: attempt 5
Dec 01 14:38:02.96: open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.96: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.96: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.96: attempt 6
Dec 01 14:38:02.97: open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.97: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.97: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.97: attempt 7
Dec 01 14:38:02.99: open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.99: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:02.99: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:02.99: attempt 8
Dec 01 14:38:03.00: open file
Dec 01 14:38:03.00: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:03.00: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:03.00: attempt 9
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: open file
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: ERROR: Failed to open file
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: (196615) VCEERR_WRONG_ENCODING
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: ERROR: Failed to play file
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: (196609) VCEERR_NO_MESSAGE
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: FAILURE
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: ERROR: Missing next step
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: FATAL
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: Attempting to jump to Fatal Error Global Event label: 'APPLICATION_ERROR'
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: [107] Label
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: Label: APPLICATION_ERROR
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: [108] Run Flowchart
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: Flowchart: 'Exit'
Dec 01 14:38:03.02: Main==>Exit

P.S. We have another app running on the same server in teleflow that has no problem with wav files. I checked the format of those files and they are in the same format as mine. Unfortunately the guy who setup up that app is unreachable.

Ensure that the "rvoice" DSP program is loaded in your NMS configuration file(s). If it is not, you'll have to add it. For the changes to take, you'll have to restart your card(s). Your best bet would be to reboot the computer.

Actually, scratch that. You said that you have another application on the same server that will play .wav files. Instead...

Check the voice Script manager entry "INTRO". Ensure that the "Voice Type" setting is set to WAV. If it is not, you would get this error.

OK...solved it. All the values under the column "VoxConv" had a value of 4. I compared it to the voice database of the app that was working and the values there were 0002. So I have changed the values of the "VoxConv" field to 0002 and it works.

Thank you for responding so fast and looking into this.

Trace

enGenic Team: Where it says "Playing" in the log file, it might be worth adding a code behind that. ie: "Playing VCE (Code: 004)" or something to that effect.

I've encountered almost identical errors when trying to add to or update the existing script wav files, even though they were the same format.

Wav PCM 8000 16 bit mono's.

I would also get the "wrong encoding error".

Using the Play step, bypassing the "play voice message code" and using the "voice file" paramater with the "Wav 8khz 16b PCM" tick cured the problem.
