Now setting up first production machine and need the ability to reload the application while the old application is currently running. What would be the steps to accomplish ths? We've heard that we need to shut doen the TFServer first. Is this correct and, if so, how is it done. A review of how to reload an application onto a running production machine would be appreciated.
Keep up the good work...

This depends somewhat on the hardware you are using.

On Ai-Logix and NMS hardware, you can use TeleFlow Monitor to reload applications. (By clicking Applications >> Reload all Normal)This will refresh the .TAM & .TAP files if updated versions have been put in place.

Otherwise, you should make sure (using the TeleFlow Monitor to see that all lines are at Wait for Call)that no calllers are on the line, and use the Service Control Manager to restart the TeleFlow Server service.

Changes in TeleFlow Config and TeleFlow Line List both require the TeleFlow Server service be restarted to make the changes take effect.

To put application changes into production, we recommend you:

1) Back up any production files that will be replaced.

2) Copy files from your development computer (the files to copy are *.TAP and everything in you application's Tam directory) to the same/relevant location/directories on the production computer, overwriting the current files.

3) Use reload all normal or restart the TeleFlow Server service (see above) to set the changes live.

4) Place test calls to the system to ensure everything is still in working order, rolling back changes and restarting your TeleFlow Server if necessary.

We're using a Dialogic D4PCI card. So I think we fit under the "Otherwise" statement. What options would I use under the Service Control Manager?

Yes, Dialogic hardware fits into the "otherwise".

In Service Control Manager, right-click "TeleFlow Server" for the menu of options. Click "Stop" to stop the service, or "Start" to start it. "Restart" will stop, and then start the service for you, so if you are looking to quickly reload some changes, a restart is probably what you want.
