Have a licensing query for teleflow application.

Have a server with 2 x 4 E1 port CG6060 cards installed.

Their is only 1 E1 (30 channels) going into each card. Making 30 channels a card - 60 in total.

However only maybe 15-20 get used max across the 2 cards at any one time.

If all 60 channels are enabled in Teleflow Linelist, do they all require a license each.

Server currently has a 50 channel license and if more than 50 lines are enabled in the linelist you can quite often get the engenic demo message.

If the linelist is kept at 50 or below it seems perfect.

Is it easier to get the license limit increased from 50 - 60?

Thanks

You do not require a license for every TeleFlow port/channel you have in your TAL file, but you do need to be sure that calls are landing only on licensed channels.

TeleFlow licenses are assigned to ports/channels sequentially when the TAL file is loaded, so this is likely the problem you are having.

Since you have a 50 channel license, you should ensure you configure your system such that calls will only go through the first 50 channels. (So, for example, if your second E1 in the system receives calls first until all 30 of its channels have calls, then call number 31 rolls to the second trunk, you should re-order the boards so that the second E1 is actually first)

The trouble with simply leaving channels out of the TAL file is that this doesn't stop calls from being put through those channels. A call put through to a channel not in the TAL file doesn't get answered. However, if calls volumes never get high enough to reach channel 21 on your first E1 trunk, you could set up your TAL to cover channels 1-20 (for the first E1 trunk), and 31-60 (for the second E1 trunk), instead of juggling the trunk order. Using the TAL to leave out unused channels and thereby maximize licensing is not supported in older versions of TeleFlow, so you would need to try this out to see if it works for you or not.

Appreciate the detailed reply....

Answers my questions for sure. The issue is around the way the calls hit the NMS card ports.

First E1 First Card the calls hit channel 30, 29, 28, 27 and so on
Second E1 Second Card the calls hit the card the same way...

Thanks

Andrew

Yes, that certainly would do it.

Just set your boards up such that the second E1 to get calls starting at its top port numbers (30,29,28,etc) is the first board in the system from TeleFlow's/NMS' perspective. This way, calls start at TeleFlow port number 60, and go back to 59,58,57 etc until they then hit 30,29,28 etc.

Then, remove ports 1-10 in your TAL file. This way, the port/licenses are counted starting at 11, so all 50 channels you will get calls on will be licensed. (technically, you could skip ports 31-40 if you don't want to set the boards up in a "perfect" order, but I think this is less confusing)

Alternatively, if you can arrange to have a "top-down" hunt order, then you could just go with ports 1-50.
