This section provides the check list and installation instructions on how to install NeoSpeech Text to Speech, or TTS.

You will need to get the MAC address from the computer on which the TTS will be installed. You can use TeleFlow Register to find this address, or run the following command from a command prompt.

Send the MAC address to NeoSpeech with the license count requested, and they will respond with a license (ascii) file. Mail to support@neospeech.com. If you do not have an account with NeoSpeech, you can purchase it from People and Companies

If you would like to listen to how well NeoSpeech synthesizes the human voice, try the demo option on the NeoSpeech website:

Install Software

Download the installation executable to the local directory. This is one location:

http://engenic.com/core/TTS30.zip

NOTE: This is a 400MB file.

Once it is downloaded, un-zip in a temporary folder, then run the setup.exe program.

Register NeoSpeech

Install the license file into the following directory:

c:\VW\VTSvc\verify\

This assumes you've installed NeoSpeech into the default location. Otherwise, you'll need to find your "data-common" directory (it will be at the same level as the "data-Kate" and "data-Paul" folders), and place the file in the sub-dir "verify" beneath it.

You should re-start the "VoiceText Server" service after the license file is in place. If in doubt, rebooting the box will absolutely ensure this will happen.

Testing

You can run the NeoSpeech demo program to try it out:

C:\TTS\VoiceTextSvc\test-client\TTSSrvClient.exe

The Text-to-speech step in TeleFlow works similar to this demo except that it receives its data as parameters to the step, and outputs the audio over the phone (or TeleFlow Simulator).

Notes

The computer running the TTS server must have 1.0 GB of RAM in order for TTS to run at an appreciable speed. It will work with less (it has been tested at 512 MB), but it will be slow. With the recommended amount of memory, it converts very fast.
