Installation NeoSpeech

Installation NeoSpeech

From TeleFlow

Jump to: navigation, search

This section provides the check list and installation instructions on how to install NeoSpeech Text to Speech, or TTS.

You will need to get the MAC address from the computer on which the TTS will be installed. You can use TeleFlow Register to find this address, or run the following command from a command prompt.

Send the MAC address to NeoSpeech with the license count requested, and they will respond with a license (ascii) file. Mail to support@neospeech.com. If you do not have an account with NeoSpeech, you can purchase it from People and Companies

If you would like to listen to how well NeoSpeech synthesizes the human voice, try the demo option on the NeoSpeech website:

Install Software

Important: If you are upgrading from a previous version of NeoSpeech, you must remove the previous version of the software first; see Uninstall Software below.

Downloading

Download the installation files to the local computer. Extract all files to a temporary folder.

Current Version

Voice Text Server 3.10

   http://engenic.com/core/TTS310.zip

NOTE: This is a 350MB file.

This version of NeoSpeech VoiceText TTS is only supported in TeleFlow Server version 2010.10.13 and newer. See TeleFlow Download to obtain the current version of TeleFlow.

Once it is downloaded, un-zip into a temporary folder, then follow the setup instructions below.

Older Versions

Voice Text Server 3.9

   http://engenic.com/core/TTS39.zip

NOTE: This is a 350MB file.

This version of NeoSpeech VoiceText TTS is only supported in TeleFlow Server version 2009.4.8 and newer.

Installation

These instructions assume you extracted the files into C:\Temp.

Run the following programs, in order; for all installation options choose the default

  1. Run C:\Temp\VT_Kate_M08_340_Master_FileIO\setup.exe

After you are done with the voices, then the server can be installed:

  1. Run C:\Temp\TTS Server 3.10.5.3\setup.exe

Important Notes:

  • If you don't specify the default on all installer options, TTS Server will not run properly.
  • The voice engine(s) must be installed first.

The documentation is installed by the TTS Server setup. For those who wish to read the documentation prior to installing, a copy of the manuals are included here:

C:\Temp\TTS Manuals 3.10\

Configuration

Set the initialization file settings:

  1. Open the file 'C:\ttssrv.ini' in an editor program, such as Notepad:
  2. Change the 'YumiSelect' setting to 0
  3. Change the 'KateSelect' setting to 1
  4. Ensure all other speaker '...Select' settings are set to 0
  5. Save and close the file

Licensing

Note: The verification file is shipped separately. If you do not have a verification file, contact your NeoSpeech reseller to obtain one.

  1. Copy your license verification file, 'verification.txt', into the following folder:
C:\VW\VTSvc\verify

This assumes you've installed NeoSpeech into the default location. You should re-start the "VoiceText Server" service after the license file is in place. If in doubt, rebooting the box will absolutely ensure this will happen.

Starting

Start the VT Server service.

  1. Restart the computer
  2. Run Windows Service Control Manager

Start .. Settings .. Control Panel .. Administrative Tools .. Services

  1. Find and start the 'VT Server' service

Testing

You can run the NeoSpeech demo program to try it out:

C:\VW\VTSvc\test-client\TTSSrvClient_Uni.exe

The Text-to-speech step in TeleFlow works similar to this demo except that it receives its data as parameters to the step, and outputs the audio over the phone (or TeleFlow Simulator).

Configuration Options

Changing NeoSpeech TTS Play Speed

  1. Edit the file ttssrv.ini (it should be at the root of C:, eg. c:\ttssrv.ini)
  2. Search for "JulieSpeed" (assuming you are using the "Julie" voice)
  3. The default setting will be 100
  4. Set to lower number to slow down Julie's speech (minimum value is 50)
  5. Save and close
  6. Restart the "VT Server" service

System Requirements

The computer running the TTS server must have 1.0 GB of RAM in order for TTS to run at an appreciable speed. It will work with less (it has been tested at 512 MB), but it will be slow. With the recommended amount of memory, it converts very fast.

Troubleshooting

Speaker Error (-10): If the TeleFlow Text-to-speech step fails to convert with the following error:

: TTS Client: request buffer failed, error code -10

Check your configuration, above, and make sure you are using one of the supported voices: Julie, Kate, Paul, or Violeta.

If the voice is correct, you could be using a version of TeleFlow Server does not match with the version of VoiceText software installed. Consult the following table to see which version of NeoSpeech VoiceText you should be using.

TeleFlow version VoiceText version
2009.4.8 and newer 3.9
2009.3.3 and older 3.0
  • If you are using an older version of TeleFlow (2009.3.3 or older) and the newer version of NeoSpeech VoiceText, you must upgrade TeleFlow Server.

Uninstall Software

follow these instructions to completely remove the NeoSpeech text-to-speech software and voices.

  1. Run Windows "Add/Remove Programs"
  Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
  1. Remove the software one component at a time, in the following the order:
    1. "VT Service"
    2. "VT-Kate-M08 SDK"
    3. "VT-Kate-M08 Patch"
    4. "VT-Kate-M08"

The order is important. This is the reverse order that the components were installed. You may not have the SDK or Patch for the particular version of the voice installed (in which case, skip that step). If you have additional or other voices besides "Kate" then remove them as well.

  1. Ensure the folders on disk have been removed:
    1. Remove the "VW" folder from the root of the C: drive.
    2. Remove the "VW" folder from C:\Program Files\
  1. Restart the computer.
